Elopement Locations

Stunning Irish Wedding Locations

All of these stunning locations are scattered along a 30-mile radius of Ireland’s north coast.

Elopement Location - Dunluce Castle

Dunluce Castle

A breathtaking ruin right on the cliff edge, Dunluce is one of the most iconic spots on the north coast. The backdrop of crumbling stone walls against the Atlantic makes it brilliant for dramatic, romantic shots. Sunset and stormy days are especially good here, with the light changing constantly. There's easy access and lots of different angles you can shoot from, including looking back towards the castle from the surrounding fields.

Elopement Location - Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones

The Dark Hedges is one of the most famous Game of Thrones locations nearby. That haunting tunnel of beech trees known as Kings road is just a short drive inland and works beautifully for moody, cinematic wedding portraits. Over at Ballintoy you’ll find the rugged harbour and coastline used for the Iron Islands scenes. The mix of jagged rocks, crashing waves and wide sea views makes it a stunning spot for dramatic couple shots.

Elopement Location - Larrybane Quarry

Larrybane Quarry

Right next to Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge (but much quieter). It’s an abandoned quarry with limestone cliffs, open fields, and sea views, loads of space and interesting beautiful backdrops, especially if you want something that feels a bit "otherworldly."

Elopement Location - Whiterocks Beach

White Rocks Beach

A stunning stretch of coastline just outside Portrush. The beach has fine, pale sand and bright limestone cliffs that glow in the right light. There are caves and rock arches you can explore at low tide, giving you loads of variety. It’s a great spot for more relaxed, natural shots, barefoot walks, coastal portraits, golden hour sessions, and there’s usually space to find quieter areas even in the summer.

Elopement Location - Dunseverick Castle

Dunseverick Castle

The castle itself is just a few ruined stones now, but the cliffs and coastline around it are stunning, and nowhere near as busy as places like Giant’s Causeway. It’s perfect for wild, wind-in-your-hair style portraits.

Elopement Location - The Giant's Causeway

The Giant's Causeway

One of the north coast’s most famous landmarks, known for its thousands of hexagonal basalt columns stretching out into the sea. Formed by ancient volcanic activity, it’s packed with drama, crashing waves, towering cliffs, and wide open skies. It’s a brilliant spot for adventurous couples who don’t mind a bit of wind and wildness in their photos. Early mornings or off-season visits are best if you want it quiet, as it’s usually busy with tourists.

Elopement Location - Ballintoy Harbour

Ballintoy Harbour & Secret Beach

A game of thrones film location, Tucked down a steep road, Ballintoy Harbour feels almost untouched by time. The rocky shoreline, little boats, and black volcanic stone make it brilliant for textured, atmospheric photos. You’ve also got amazing rock formations at low tide, with pools and little bridges naturally formed over the water. It’s one of those places where you can get epic seascape shots or intimate, tucked-away corners all in the same session. Not to mention the secret beach...

Elopement Location - Kinbane Castle

Kinbane Castle

More off the beaten track, Kinbane Castle is a ruined tower sitting on a rocky headland, reached by a long path and steep steps. It feels wild and remote, with sweeping sea views and cliffs all around. It's a bit of a climb, so it suits couples who are up for an adventure but it’s absolutely worth it for the dramatic setting and feeling like you’ve got the whole place to yourself.

Elopement Location - Dark Hedges

The Dark Hedges

Famous worldwide thanks to Game of Thrones, the Dark Hedges is a tunnel of ancient beech trees with twisted branches that meet overhead. It’s best at dawn or early morning before the crowds arrive, especially if you want that haunting, fairytale look. The light filters through the trees beautifully, and it’s perfect for more atmospheric, storybook-style portraits.

Elopement Location - Irish Pub

Irish Pub

Add a bit of 'craic' to your elopement with a stop at a proper old Irish pub. Pull a pint of Guinness together, soak in the cosy atmosphere, and get photos full of character and charm. Locals might join in the banter. It’s relaxed, real, and a brilliant way to mark the day.

Elopement Location - Portstewart Strand

Portstewart Strand Beach

A two-mile stretch of golden beach which you can drive straight onto, with rolling sand dunes and space to breathe. The light here is beautiful, especially in the evenings. It’s perfect for relaxed, natural photos and big skies. Easy access makes it a great option year-round.

Elopement Location - Mussenden Temple

Mussenden Temple

Perched on the edge of the cliff above Downhill Beach, Mussenden Temple is one of the most iconic sights on the North Coast. It looks out over the Atlantic with panoramic views that are hard to beat. The temple itself, with its classical shape and dramatic setting, adds a timeless feel to any shoot.

Elopement Location - Downhill Beach

Downhill Beach

A wide, open beach that feels wild and cinematic, ideal for dramatic or intimate shots. From the sand, you can see Mussenden Temple high above on the cliffs, adding something really special to the backdrop. The space, light, and quiet make it a brilliant location all year round.
